The history of the profession

The history of the profession photographer begins with 1839, when Louis Daguerre at the meeting of the Academy of Sciences and Academy of Fine Arts in Paris, presented an original method for fixing images.

For a long time for the photograph does not recognize the right to aesthetic creativity. Many photographers spend a lot of effort and imagination, creating a snapshot of an inadequate fixed by nature. They are widely used editing and printing multiple negatives.

At the end of the XIX century, with the advent of relatively light camera shooting and easier way to play shots on the pages of the press has been widely photographic journalism. Since then, there is a concept profession photographer. Two trends in the history of photography: realistic and formotvorcheskaya, determined in this period with maximum clarity.

There was the first professional organization - the Danish Union of Press Photographers (Pressefotografforbundet) in 1912 in Denmark, organized by six press photographers. Working mostly for periodicals, and photographers in their pictures are often touched the sick problems of society, showing social inequality, poverty, child labor, etc. In the beginning of a picture in the newspaper did not specify the name of the photographer.

Modern photojournalism has become possible with the invention of compact cameras. The emergence of 35-millimeter "watering", which was established in 1914 and released for sale in Germany in 1925, has made many significant changes in every area of photography. The new camera allowing the photographer to see the ordinary and familiar objects in a new, bolder vision and enhance their ability to better see the contours of forms in space.

At the beginning of XX century a method of "instant photography", which does not require any image processing. At the same time there were conversations about what profession photographer is primitive. Therefore, the profession of photographer goes to the detachment of art.

News organizations and journalism schools have established a wide variety of awards for photojournalists. Beginning with the 1968 Pulitzer Prize awarded in the following categories of photojournalism: «Feature Photography», «Spot News Photography» and «Capture the Moment». Other awards: World Press Photo, Best of Photojournalism and Photo of the year.
